Enterprise Enfield Receives Highest Accolade for Business Support Services for Women

Enterprise Enfield has received the Prowess ‘Flagship Award’ quality standard for its outstanding services for women looking to start and grow businesses in the city. Chief Executive, Janet Collett, was presented with the Prowess Flagship award at the Prowess Annual International Conference in Blackpool in March.

Enterprise Enfield was assessed against 13 rigorous standards designed to measure quality, client focus, inclusion and equality and has been recognised as achieving the highest possible level of support in each of these areas.  The agency runs mentoring programmes and training seminars specifically to help women start and develop their own businesses.  Its Inspiring Women Programme, funded by local charity, The RSA Trust, is currently providing 6 months mentoring and training for 24 local women starting their own businesses.

The Flagship Award is a national quality standard developed by Prowess - the UK voice for women’s enterprise. The Flagship Award is recognised by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) and several Regional Development Agencies (RDAs).

Commenting on the achievement, Janet Collett said: “We are delighted that Enterprise Enfield has achieved this Flagship Award and that our business support services for women have been recognized. Enterprise Enfield encourages, empowers and inspires women to overcome barriers, such as lack of finance, lack of confidence and work life balance, so they can truly fulfil their potential.

Erika Watson, Executive Director of Prowess said “Our aim is to support members to provide the most effective services to all their clients, but especially their female users. Enterprise Enfield has been through a rigorous and robust assessment and firmly deserve this recognition of their outstanding work for the women of North London.”
